What is the advantage rule?
Advantage keeps the game flowing when the fouled team benefits.
Advantage allows flow when stopping play would hurt the team that was fouled. The referee judges whether a promising attack is developing. If advantage doesn't materialise within a few seconds, they can still penalise the original offence. Players will often hear 'play on' with a hand gesture.
