What is a concussion substitute?
Concussion subs protect players — no team should rush a head injury.
Concussion substitutes allow an additional permanent when a head injury is suspected, regardless of subs already used. The injured player cannot return. Protocols include an on-pitch assessment and independent doctor review. It removes the incentive to rush injured players back.
