What are expected assists (xA)?
xA rewards the pass before the finish — not just the assist.
Expected assists apply to the shot a pass created. A player with high xA but few real assists has been unlucky or had poor finishing from teammates. It separates chance creation quality from finishing luck better than raw assist counts.
