Why do players feign injury?
Feigning injury is cheating — but the rewards keep players trying.
Simulation seeks to manufacture fouls or disrupt opponent rhythm. Players go down easily in the box hoping for penalties. Referees and increasingly punish obvious dives with yellows. It remains endemic because the reward (, card, break in play) often outweighs the risk.
