What is an inverted winger?
Inverted wingers cut inside — full-backs provide the width.
Inverted wingers drift inside to shoot, combine in central areas, or play through-balls. Salah, Robben, and Mahrez are classic examples. The full-back on that side often overlaps to provide width. It creates unpredictability compared to traditional touchline-hugging wingers.
