When does a player get a red card?
A red card changes the entire match — and often the next one too.
Straight reds come from serious foul play, violent conduct, spitting, denying a clear goal opportunity (as last defender), offensive language, or a second yellow. Denying a goal with a handball on the line also earns red. The team plays a man down and the player usually misses the next match too.
