What is xG?
xG tells you the quality of chances — not just the scoreline.
models assign a probability (0 to 1) to every shot using distance, angle, body part, and assist type. A team with 2.5 but 1 goal was unlucky; 0.3 with 2 goals overperformed. It is better than raw shot counts for evaluating performance.
