When does a player get a yellow card?

Yellow cards punish recklessness — not every foul earns one.

Yellow cards punish reckless challenges, dissent, persistent infringement, unsporting behaviour, and delaying the restart. Tactical fouls — stopping a counter with a cynical trip — are classic bookings. A second yellow in the same game becomes a red, so players must manage their aggression carefully.
